Slovakia: Qiimaha Baradhada ee Beerta-Iridda Badeecadaha ayaa kor u kacay 7.1% Todobaadkii ilaa €47.08 100 kgkiiba

Slovak growers received an average of €47.08 per 100 kg for late ware potatoes in week 38. This is shown in the weekly price survey of the Agricultural Paying Agency. The agency collected prices from 21 to 24 September. The figures exclude VAT and transport.

The average rose by €3.12 from week 37, when it stood at €43.96. This is an increase of 7.1% in one week. Compared with the same week of 2025, the price was only €0.30 higher. This is a rise of 0.7%.

Wide range between sellers

The highest price reported in week 38 was €58.00 per 100 kg. This was 3.6% more than a week earlier and 9.4% more than a year ago. The lowest price fell to €19.58 per 100 kg. This was 32.0% below the previous week, the agency said.

Early potatoes sold much higher

The picture was different at the start of September. In week 36, the agency surveyed prices for early ware potatoes from 7 to 10 September. The average was €55.65 per 100 kg. This was 88.3% more than in the same week of 2025.

In week 37, the national average fell by 21.0% to €43.96 per 100 kg. In week 38, the survey switched to late ware potatoes. The price then recovered part of the loss.

The agency publishes these figures every week in its market information system. The survey covers producers in the west, centre and east of the country. The agency does not publish regional figures when fewer than three respondents report.

Maxay muhiim u tahay?

Europe expects one of its smallest potato crops in years. Wholesale prices in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands have risen sharply. Slovak farm-gate prices for the main crop have not followed this trend so far.

This gap may not last. Prices could rise once domestic stocks run low, between Christmas and Easter, the weather portal iMeteo wrote. If import prices stay high, stored potatoes may gain value after the new year. Growers with good storage can wait. Buyers may want to secure volumes now while the domestic price is close to last year.
